The ancient Mapuo tribesmen of Asi plateau, West Africa have been making Batik fabrics for close to 10 centuries. They developed a delicate dyeing technique that involves use of locally derived dyes on fabrics, which, after sun drying, leaves permanent abstract patterns on Cotton. The entire dyeing procedure takes roughly eight days to set. And the end product is quite out of the ordinary.
The Mats you see on this page are made out of these fabrics. Your home deserves to have a set. It will be inaccurate to consider them as mass produced material. They are not. Instead they are an Art Masterpiece, |
